About us
Hi, I'm Deloris Coaker, a black entrepreneur and the founder of Community Wheels Inc. CWI
was founded in 1990 in Madison, Wisconsin when I was 23yrs old to assist low-income families with transportation needs. I
was able to get started with my own savings and keeping a part time job. After researching how to write grants and where
to get assistance, I was able to obtain funding from varies sources some including: Dean Health Care, The Evjue
Foundation, The Madison Community Foundation and support from both businesses and the community itself. Then a major
supporter came in 1992 from United Way of Dane County 1992-2001. Later in 1999 I opened a auto repair shop and a car
dealership. In 2003 after so many years of helping others and working more then 60-70 hours a week. and added family
stress. I became ill and temporarily closed Community Wheels.
After a few years of rest, I couldn't seem to stop wanting to help people with repair needs.
So keeping true to my form, I reopened CWI again, and in 2006 I retained 501c3 status with the IRS. Same goal and mission
to help families maintain transportation by network with auto repair shops to offer discounts on auto repairs.
In 2009 I will be launching 2 additional help programs.
"Auto Repair Auction Site" and
Cash For Repair assistance."
